About
Gloria was born October 10, 1955, in Beaumont, Texas. One of seven children born to Cajun parents hailing from the Church Point, LA area, her life was rich of Cajun culture.
Her love of Cajun music began at a very early age, listening to “Tee Bruce” Broussard’s Cajun Jamboree show. In the late 1970s, she had the privilege of beginning her radio career with Tee-Bruce, hosting and learning the radio business.
By the early 1990’s, Gloria began producing and hosting The Cajun Express Show, a weekly traditional Cajun music radio show on KQHN Radio in Nederland, TX.
At the same time, Gloria and her late husband Dallas Roy, were instrumental in chartering the Golden Triangle Chapter of the Cajun French Music Association, where she served as a board member; and, on the National Board as a Chapter Representative and served on the Le Cajun committee.
From 2008 – 2014, Gloria continued The Cajun Express Show on KLVI & then KAYD in Beaumont, TX.
In 2014 to present Gloria began her own internet based radio station, playing Cajun music 24 hour a day/ 7 days a week – Cajun Sounds Internet Radio.
Gloria served as a board member for the Texas Rice Festival and chaired Cajun Night for over 20 years and served as a Board Member for Southeast Texas Arts Council and chairs the Cajun Heritage Festival in Port Arthur, Texas
She works closely with the Texas Folklife Resource organization to promote “The Big Squeeze” Accordion competition, seeking out and showcasing young accordion players.
Gloria has spent a lifetime promoting her culture and music wherever she is. Her radio station is a 24/7 outreach bringing that culture and music to the world. This is not a hobby, job or even a for profit endeavor, it is a way of life and a lifetime labor of love.
